Meet the CS:GO ANZ Championship Teams for Season 1 2019

12th Feb 2019

This week, the LPL CS:GO ANZ Championship presented by SKYCITY kicks off for 2019! Before the first episode kicks off on Thursday 14th February, get to know the lineup ahead of time.

Chiefs

Our 2018 season champs are back to hold their title! Featuring a new addition in Lacore, who we met last season in the Invitational Semi Finals LAN week playing for Legacy, we’re excited to see what the reigning champions will bring to the stage with their new line-up.

Tainted Minds

Alpha Series champs and runner-ups from last season’s invitational Tainted Minds have a lot to hold up to this season. Will they reclaim their previous victory from Chiefs? Will we see them again at the LAN finals? Tune in and find out!

Ground Zero

Another familiar face returns to the LPL PRO league: Ground Zero. As our wildcard FFYI qualifiers last season, GZ will now be up against 7 other teams to take the crown as opposed to 5. Fighting for placement is nothing new to GZ, so we’re keen to see their progress as the season begins!

Genuine Gaming

You might recognise these guys as the ex-Taboo team who finished second in the recent CyberGamer AOC LAN finals held at LPL studios. With some Auckland LAN practice under their belt we reckon they’ll be eager to return for finals week this season and put up a great fight.

Breakaway

Our sole NZ-based team Breakaway are back after their placement in our 2018 invitational season. Having made steady ground since their debut in CS:GO last year, we can’t wait to see what these Kiwis have got in store for 2019.

Avant

Avant is the only team to have yet played in an LPL PRO tournament or at an LPL Studios Lan – but this could be used to their advantage. With potential to become the dark horse of the league we’re excited to welcome Avant to the league and see what they’ve got up their sleeves.

Paradox

The champions of CyberGamer’s AOC LAN finals at LPL studios, Paradox have jumped into the LPL professional scene in style! We first saw this team’s victory in Auckland at the end of January, clutching a 3-1 to take out the finals. Can they do it again in the pro scene? Tune in and see!

Athletico

Athletico made it through to the CyberGamer AOC LAN finals last month, beating The Watchmen but narrowly losing to tournament winners Paradox in the semi-finals. Still, they’ve got LPL LAN experience under their belt – so we can’t wait to see them in the LPL Pro league for the first time.

Tune in every week from 8pm NZDT starting this Thursday 14th February 2019 on Twitch.tv/letsplaylive or on SKY SPORT.
