Tainted Minds withdraw from the LPL PRO CS:GO ANZ Championship

6th Mar 2019

On February 19th 2019 it was announced that ICON Esports had purchased Australian esports organisation Tainted Minds.

As a result of this acquisition – and the subsequent roster changes currently being made – the Tainted Minds CS:GO team currently competing in the LPL PRO CS:GO ANZ Championship have been unable to secure a roster. They have forfeited the tournament as of March 6th 2019.

“In the last couple of days ICON have announced significant changes to our CS:GO roster which has left us without a core 3 players” explains Michael ‘Voltris’ Stewart, Operations Manager of ICON Esports. “Sico has been transferred to Grayhound and both Ofnu and Zewsy have been acquired by the Chiefs. As a result the remaining players on the team have disbanded and we no longer have an eligible CS:GO roster.”

With the former Tainted Minds team now disbanded, this creates a gap in the LPL PRO tournament schedule. LPL have decided to create a bye within the league to keep things fair for all remaining teams.

Tainted Minds have been removed from the league leader-board. Their points will be subtracted, and the teams TM have played (Chiefs and Avant) will have their points reversed. 3 points will be added to their total score. Any teams that were scheduled to play against TM in Weeks 3 through 6 will automatically gain 3 points to their overall score and win their future matches by default.

LPL will continue to broadcast the league from 8PM every Thursday on SKY Sport and Twitch.
