Dota 2 High School League Wrap-Up: Week 5

3rd Apr 2019

Week 5 of HSL saw two fan-favourites Lynfield College and Mt Albert Grammar School duke it out for those crucial leaderboard points. Last week we watched as Lynfield dominated over Te Puke High School – could they keep their winning streak up for yet another week?

Much to the pleasure of our audience some surprise heroes showed up in this week’s picks, including Twitch-chat favourites Monkey King and Meepo. Mt Albert claimed first blood when JustARandomGuy took out Lynfield’s C.G.C less than 2 minutes into the match. A few minutes later and the score had evened 3-3, but after a brawl seeing C.G.C getting revenge on MAGS Lynfield took the lead 4-3.

As the match progressed the score remained fairly close, but Lynfield kept their lead with a few extra kills on MAGS throughout. A blur of spins and snowballs later Lynfield had picked up a double-kill and MVP of the match Lyander began his reign of terror. 12 minutes in and the score read 11-6 against MAGS.

Riding this momentum, Lynfield continued to climb in points. HSL veteran and DOTA 2 Holiday Cup participant Lyander became near unstoppable on a killing spree and bumping their kills to 36. MAGS fought the good fight gaining an additional 7 kills – but as caster Matt “Smite” Ross put it: “Can anyone stop Lynfield College?!” as they went on a rampage.

Predictably, the win went to Lynfield with a final score of 45 – 14.

Our offline match results were:
