LPL Pro Season 2 2020 - LAN Cancellation

Regarding CS:GO and Dota 2 LAN finals

9th Jul 2020

Player experience and safety in all of our leagues, including Pro, is of utmost importance to LPL. We had hoped to be able to host LAN finals for our LPL Pro CS:GO and Dota 2 Season 2 leagues to amplify the esports experience for both players and fans.

Due to current border restrictions set in place by the New Zealand government, coupled with the mandatory 2 week quarantining for all new arrivals into the country, we unfortunately have to cancel the CS:GO and Dota 2 LAN Finals set to take place in August this year. There is a highly unlikely chance that Trans-Tasman borders will re-open in time for our projected LAN dates and LPL have had to make an executive decision based on the current climate in New Zealand and Australia.

The LPL team were excited to be hosting our ANZ players in Auckland and whilst we are disappointed LAN isn't going ahead, we respect the decision made by our government to keep our borders closed to protect all New Zealand citizens from COVID-19.

At this stage we hope to host LAN Finals for LPL Pro Season 3, however events surrounding COVID-19 are an ever-evolving situation. We will always update players, teams and fans as soon as possible should this change in the future.

Please note that as a result of LAN cancellation, the Semi and Grand Finals for both leagues will follow regular scheduled broadcasting.
