News
Thank you to everyone who competed in LetsPlay.Live (LPL) Season 2 2020, and to all who tuned in to support our broadcasts. Without our amazing players, viewers and fans, we wouldn’t have been able to have such an amazing and successful season.
Following a successful season of esports leagues in 2020 and looking ahead into LPL Season 3 2020, we will be bringing in more LPL content than ever before, as well as introducing features to our community that will provide further opportunities to our players, viewers, and fans to engage with us more (and us with you!).
But it wouldn’t be season notes without any changes to our platform and leagues! The upcoming season will include new and exciting changes to all our titles.
Without further ado, welcome to our Season Rundown for LPL Season 3 2020!.
We’ve had some team changes in LPL Season 2 2020 and moving into LPL Season 3 2020 we’d like to share these updates with you!
You may have heard that Erin “Ezza” Hughes joined LetsPlay.Live last month. Ezza is now a month into the role and after some internal changes she is now Head of Community and Leagues. Riki “Shinya” Kudo, our Lead Administrator, continues to oversee our league operations. These two are part of our Auckland based team.
Our wider Platform Admin team consists of Willem “Jaws” Manley, Ben “Pezza” Perry and Samuel “Tham” Mitchell.
Jaws remains our Head Senior Platform Admin, specialising in the games Dota 2, PUBG and Valorant, and will be helping Ezza to run the Community Caster programme and manage the LPL community. Pezza, one of our Senior Platform Admins is our Head Rainbow Six: Siege Admin and Tham, our second Senior Platform Admin, is our Head Counter Strike: Global Offensive Admin but will also be working on our Valorant leagues.
Our Senior Game Admins consist of H0r1bl, for Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Easykill, for PUBG, who will continue to champion these games in Season 3.
Moving forward into Season 3 2020 we will be making foundational changes to how users, specifically in higher divisions, pay to compete in their respective Divisions.
For our Divisions that have a maximum player limit - e.g Evolution, Challenger and Pro - there will be a Team Entry Fee required for participation instead of LPL Premium.
For these Divisions we want users to be able to focus on the competition and their gameplay instead of having to worry about when their LPL Premium will expire. This Team Entry Fee will also cover up to three substitutes used within the season (following game-specific substitute rules).
Divisions that do not have a maximum player limit, will remain LPL Premium required as users are often casual players that prefer to have the flexibility of an LPL Premium.
If you are unsure if the Division you wish to play requires an entry fee or a LPL Premium subscription, please check the Events page on the website for your game and it will be outlined there.
Moving into the upcoming Season’s relegations, LPL will be re-enforcing Core Roster rules as well as Roster Locks towards the end of league play.
For our leagues that have five core players, teams must field three out of their starting five players playing all games for the season (this also includes relegations) and rosters will be locked before entering playoffs.
For teams that have four players in a team, teams may provide a roster of five core players. Teams must field three out of their starting five to remain on the roster the whole season/split to be eligible for Relegations.
We highly advise users to revisit their respective games’ rulebook to ensure they read their respective roster rules as they may be different for each title!
LPL Season 3 2020 will include an updated look & feel to the brand. We’ve given each Division - Open, Amateur, Evolution, Challenger and Pro - their distinct colors so users can identify easily which Division is which.
This will translate to everything in between our Discords servers, broadcast assets, social media and content!
Our Season 3 league broadcasts are set to be the best that we have created for you, to date, and we’re excited to share them when our games start in September!
You may have seen new channels appear across our Twitch and Twitter platforms, we now have dedicated channels for our specific four game leagues, CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, PUBG and Dota 2. These pages are created so that we can provide more game specific content to our specific titles. You can expect updates, highlights, clips from previous leagues, memes and more. Please see below the new channels and make sure you give them a follow to keep up to date!

As with every season, we will be making continuous improvements to the website throughout the season. This will include bug fixes, added features, and/or better user accessibility and experience.
If you have any issues, feedback or suggestions please do not hesitate to let us know via the Contact Us or Ticket Support page.
As aforementioned, we will be revamping our Community Discord Server! We have a new URL - www.discord.gg/letsplaylive, a new layout, and a new look! We intend this to be a place where players, from amateur to professional, can come to talk, connect and play.
For LPL Season 3 2020, our leagues will be based out of this combined Discord (hidden behind closed doors) but we hope to have our competitive players, engaging with the wider community within their retrospective titles.
You can now link your Discord account to your LPL account and this will provide you with some awesome access and special bragging rights roles.
If you see anything we can improve on, or have suggestions for games or events, or just want to say hi, make sure you are part of the Discord.
We have created a Player Feedback Discord, only open to select players from our leagues, to gather constructive feedback on how we can improve - not only the Pro Division, but all Divisions below for their respective titles.
Our vision is to continuously improve, innovate and grow. We want the community to know that we are always welcome to constructive feedback. If at any point users would like to share their experience please let us know in the LPL Community Discord Server.
We are pleased to announce that in Season 3 we will be actively supporting the ever-growing community of ANZ esports talent. Whether you are an experienced caster or a beginner looking to get into casting (or just give it a go), interested users will have access to an asset package and given the ability to cast matches within our leagues up to Evolution.
We hope that through LPL Community Casts users will be able to build their casting skills and personal profile under the LPL brand.
Update: Our Community Caster program is now open for applicants. Successful applicants will be given exclusive insider access to LPL matches and assets, will be officially promoted when casting our games from your own channel and can learn from the regions finest.
Want to get involved in esports but don’t know where to start? We are always looking for passionate esports enthusiasts to join the LPL Volunteer Administration team. Do you want to get involved with helping out within our leagues? Or have an itch to get involved with the community? Or are a wiz meme-maker for social media? Reach out to us to get involved!
We will be briefly discontinuing weekly casual play on the platform as we revamp what casual play looks like. We hope to announce information closer to the season start date with better prizes. Watch this space!
Have a game you would like us to hold weekly events in? Let us know! We’re open to suggestions and always want to support and grow competition within new and current gaming titles.
CS:GO remains one of the most popular titles on the platform and we will be elevating this to new heights in Season 3 2020. With a new look, a $18,000 total prize pool, new nights and also a couple of invited teams to our Pro division, this is not one to be missed!
We are thrilled to announce that the LPL Pro Division will double its Season 2 2020 prize pool to a whopping $10,000 and will be inviting some of the best ANZ CS:GO teams into the Pro Division, increasing the Double Elimination bracket from 8 teams to 12 teams! The top 3 teams will head to Auckland, New Zealand for a Semi and Grand Final LAN (pending travel restrictions due to COVID-19).
We have also brushed up a few pieces in our CS:GO ruleset. Following LPL Season 2 2020, we’ve had some users ask queries around what Tie-Breaker rules are when 2 or more teams have the same wins/losses, and what model/skins are legal in our leagues. All players are highly encouraged to re-read through our terms and ruleset, and ensure they will be able to commit to the scheduling requirements for all levels of play.
Production for this season’s CS:GO Pro broadcasts will be held out of the LPL Studios, meaning you can expect to see high-quality Counter-Strike content on Twitch from 7PM AET on Wednesday and Thursday.
LPL Challenger CS:GO will continue to be broadcast remotely at high-quality on Twitch, held on Monday and Tuesday at 6:30PM AET.
This means that you can catch LPL CS:GO content from Monday through Thursday in Season 3!
Our CS:GO Open, Amateur and Evolution Divisions will remain largely unchanged, however with the introduction of our Community Caster programme, if you want to give casting a go by casting these channels, you can!
