To believe that we have all made it to the end of 2020 is an incredible feat. Coming straight off from an amazing year of 2019 and leaping into a new decade has been a wild and crazy journey. Without the players, teams & organisations, audience and avid esports fans, we wouldn’t be where we are right now.

2020 has been a rough year for many, for obvious reasons. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank those working and carrying out essential services during these trying times:

• All medical staff - ranging from doctors, nurses, practitioners, lab workers, etc.
• All care providers - ranging from aged care, residential care, mental health care, etc.
• All courier postage service staff - ranging from administration and goods delivery.
• All supermarket staff.
• All other staff from various industries who carry out essential duties that we may not have listed.
• To all citizens following government regulations, practicing social distancing and wearing facemasks. 

For LPL, 2020 has been a year of understanding around what makes us awesome, gathering and implementing appropriate feedback, and exponential growth with our administration and broadcasts. We had more than 17,000+ matches played this year and dozens of tournaments & events held on the platform, being broadcast to both online & linear. We were also the first esports broadcaster to broadcast an esport tournament in Fiji, with Rocket League Season 2 going to air on Fiji TV. We also partnered with our awesome friends at WD Black, Vodafone New Zealand, Red Bull New Zealand, Xtrfy, SkyCity and Konka, just to name a few!

In 2020 we’ve brushed up on our legal jibber jabber to ensure fair play, competitive formats to ensure all players are enjoy competing to be the best, launched the Pro Player Feedback Panel, introduced a Discord Bot in our community server to improve user experience and admin-to-player & vice versa communication, launched the Community Caster program, and grew the volunteer admin team to become one big happy family.

The LPL team continuously implements improvements day-in and day-out and we greatly appreciate all the patience you’ve shown us throughout this tough year as we aim to do things right for you. Looking ahead to 2021, we have some very exciting announcements lined up - ready to be released on the week of 11 January. Players can expect to head into relegations on 25 January at the earliest, so be sure to mark your calendars!
