New Zealand’s exclusive High School League (HSL), the first secondary school competition featuring high school teams competing in League of Legends, will kick off it’s live stream tonight.
The first game tonight, starting at 6 PM and streaming exclusively here on letsplay.live, will feature Manurewa High School #2 vs Rangitoto College #2. Make sure to come back Tuesday night at the same time, as Heretaunga College #1 will face off against Saint Patrick’s College #2.
50 high school teams from all over New Zealand will compete across a 10 week tournament, followed by playoffs and a grand final on June 6. With an industry that alone has over 100 million League of Legends players, students and competitors will be given a taste of the competitive world of eSports as well as pursue potential future careers in IT.
Ben Lenihan, President of the New Zealand eSports Federation, says “it was a really important part of the development of the HSL that it be a student-led initiative to help build the capability of the industry going forward.”
The live streams will include aspiring shout-casters getting a chance to showcase their talents in front of a live audience.
Games will be broadcasted weekly through June 9th on www.letsplay.live.
