I am a gamer, I play rpg's like ESO, SWTOR, WOW and DIABLO 3, and I play league of legends, warframe and I will be buying the new star wars battlefront aswell. I need a good gaming monitor below $300. My build is:

Processor: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-core processor
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43ATX AM3+Motherboard
RAM: Kingston HyperXFury Blue 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX770 2048GDDR5

I have read so much on monitors and I cant decide, idk if I need 144HZ cause My comp on high settings should run well or if i should get the IPS and have 60fps, please let me know what you guys think if it can run over 60 on ultra settings and what type of monitor I should get.

First thing you should do is try a 144hz monitor and see if the difference is worth it for you.

Most likely it will be, and for that reason you'll need to save a bit more, unless you want to compromise and then wish you hadn't in a month's time when you finally play on one.

None of those games really demand 144hz
IPS is a good option, go for it!

Give this monitor a try.. LG 24MP77HM-P
$259 @ MSY

, please let me know what you guys think if it can run over 60 on ultra settings and what type of monitor I should get.

Yes i think many of those games can run over 60 fps on your set up, if that answers your question

I just feel like putting all that money onto good specs will go to waste being limited by 60 fps on a 60Hz monitor. I know the colors and display is amazing on the IPS and apparently the colors are trash on TN. So just to clarify i wont need the 144HZ for the new battlefront, warframe or payday 2 (forgot to mention payday)

afaik payday 2 is vsync enabled for 60hz max, but do double check that
for warframe it seems like 144hz makes sense, what fps do you get in that game?
for starwars 144hz will be an improvement, but personally id rather the ips if you cant get both

i cant however find a 144hz monitor under 300

You don't technically need anything better than the minimum requirements to play those games either, doesn't mean you don't want it. Necessity and preference are different things.

Again my advice is to try out 120/144hz monitors before you decide that it's not necessary. It might be the kind of thing you can't live without when gaming, like a SSD is for some people.

I would like to try it, but the only way is to buy one online for $400 or more, there aren't any in stores to look at, and I don't want spend over $300

Buy whats in your budget for now, then sell it on gumtree down the road. 144Hz is amazing for FPS titles but the cost of entry is high. Do what the others are saying and try both if you can.

Just not true at all really.

I can tell you now, 144Hz makes a significant difference in WoW/Diablo3/LoL/Battlefront etc. Just because a game isn't an FPS doesn't mean it doesn't "demand" it. If you can manage to find a 120/144Hz monitor for your price range I would highly recommend that over a 60Hz regardless of what game you're planning on playing. It's not a necessity but it's something you should aim for.

Anyone with a 144Hz can tell you going back to 60Hz is digital AIDS. I would do what's already been suggested and go for a 60Hz for now if that's all you can afford and sell it later for a 144Hz upgrade.

But that's silly.

Clearly his current monitor works, and is not 120/144hz. So he has a 60hz monitor, and doesn't need a new one.

Best course of action is to just wait a few weeks and buy a good high refresh rate monitor instead of blowing your load on some shit that won't make a difference and then regretting your decision when you realise you would have had enough money for a good monitor by the time the shit one arrives.
