It is VERY important that all players looking to participate in CGPL Spring read this thread top to bottom as it will have many rule and general changes that will have a big affect on next season.

Dates and a timeline for the lead up to next season will also be at the bottom these are VERY important to read these.

These are the main changes that will be talked over in this thread, each point will be broken down in paragraphs explaining them below

  • Elo floor lowered in CG Silver
  • Top 4 teams no longer allowed in CGPL
  • Div 3(gold) removed and some slight renaming, Invite divisions now look like:
CGPlat - 8 teams
CGGold - 16 teams
CGSilver - open
CGBronze - open(free to play)

  • Core players are now determined by a % of games played rather than whether the team marks them as "core".

Now the break down:

This season just passed saw the introduction of a 1400 elo floor, meaning that if you lose a game you could not drop below the starting ELO of 1400. This worked as intended and allowed far more teams to stay involved in CG Silver for longer and more having final dreams or chances for much longer. However we feel like it was too overpowered as well as caused issues with "1400" ranked teams having huge variance in skill level. As such we have lowered the ELO floor to 1368, meaning that a team can lose a single game before they cannot drop further. We hope this will find the right balance in keeping teams competitive while not punishing teams who come strong out of the gate.

The top 4 teams are no longer being allowed to compete CGPL. The top 4 teams will be decided upon at the start of each season by the admin team, for this season we have selected Grayhound, Chiefs, Tainted minds, and Order. [i]The players in these top 4 teams are obviously not allowed to play for other teams within the league[/b]. We feel this will help foster a healthier scene and allow more teams room to progress up the divisions and/or to attend the offline finals.

This seasons most drastic change will be the removal of one of the invite divisions. For those that remember a third invite/league division (CGM) was added to CSGO to combat the large skill gap in the upper end of CGA. The admin team feels that this skill gap has deteriorated as well as the third invite division causing troubles each season in relation to the promotion and relegation series. The new format will see no changes to the size of Division 1 (Platinum) or Division 2 (Gold). The format for next seasons promotion and relegation series and how we are moving from 8-16-16-open to 8-16-open will be at the bottom of this thread and it is important that everyone reads through it carefully to avoid confusion. We are sorry for the inconvenience to high level Silver teams who will essentially need to move up two divisions in the one go qualify for Gold.

The third major change coming this next season will be a further adjustment to the core system, again this is quite different and thus VERY IMPORTANT for all players to read. Core this season will now be awarded to players who reach 65% (5/7) games played. Previously teams selected who they wished to be core players and those players were not held to a minimum game requirement to hold that title. In this new system only those players who reach 5/7 games during the season will be awarded core. Roster changes will stay the same capped at 2 per season and only to be made within the roster lock period. Our aims with this change are to have a teams core roster better represent those that played the season rather than those who were signed up. I assume there will be many questions to do with this update so please comment in this thread or send in a support ticket and we will try to answer everyone's questions.

lol ~ there goes my ego with the new cg update

- serious note

i truly believe this was a smart move. CGM was lacking teams and if im being real, the skill gap was slight. There should be less divisions to increase the competitiveness. One change from cg i really like but no one has to agree with me.

Turtle, so from the teams that didnt make finals for CGM (current) do they get a chance at the ffyi or they are just straight silver?
