What would you like to know? I'm happy to answer the questions you have or direct you to where you can find them.

Also to any of you who want to come here and post immature shit, don't bother.

I just needed a quick summary of what it would be like if I did join the commandos squad, what they would be expecting for me too do and how fast to do it..
Just what kind of training I'd see myself in?
How healthy I would need to be?
Should I start training even harder now, so I can get fitness better?
Would I need to study more?
Learn more survival things?

The training is intense, very intense in a physical perspective. If you wanted to get a scope on what kind of training styles they use i would recommend watching as much footage as you can on SF. I know that there are plenty of series' and recruitment videos which can be used to learn about what they do.

You are expected to be able to perform above and beyond human expectations so you really need to be very well trained physically. Fitness should definitely be a priority if you are not already well above standard.

In terms of what kind of training i guess job roles, unfortunately the majority of what they do is at the Secret/Top Secret kind of level. So for obvious reasons that is basically as far as we will know. However, once again as above i know there are documentary series' that do follow a commando unit in a training phase and offer some insight (unclassified obviously) in what they do - definitely something you could research.

Something to remember is that they are actually very intelligent, you would want to be very well educated and a master at making snapshot decisions. If you aren't so intellectually inclined you will either be declined during recruitment or shoved towards rifleman or something of the sorts.

The most important point i could probably convey though is that you need to be a team player, willing to go to unseen lengths to work for the team. Teamwork is paramount - these units are brothers.

You seem to know a lot about that kind of stuff..
would it be alright if ever needed advice too either msg you or that other guy?
thanks for the big advice,
I'll take it all into consideration now!

My uncle is apart of the SAS (SASR if you wanna get technical) and i can try get you info on that. I dont know if it is the exact same thing but from what he has told me, the shit they put you through for selection is super intense. Pretty much dont brake under mental pressure. They will tell you horrible things about your family. Things like "Your mother is being murdered and raped while you are here" , etc. The reason i know this is my uncle broke the first time 3 days from selection. Expect to go days without rest and be put through the worst conditions imaginable. Sometimes you can go weeks without having any major rest.

When I speak to him next i'll try get some info for you. Hope it all works out for you and best of luck. I'm sure you will make your dad proud.

thanks heaps man, just pm me when you get some more details from him.. would love that!

Quote from DeMz. on the 9th of September 2014
Yeah I will. Hopefully i'll get to see him soon but im expecting some time near november or December he will be back. He already mad it in once, had a child so he left. He was aloud to try out again, made it and got malaria. Got asked back 3 days from selection quit, cause he wasn't mentally ready, Now he is training in perth, trying to rejoin. That's just some of the shit you have to deal with. Make sure you stay healthy, be wary of where you are (you may get a disease) and never give up. If you truly have the drive to be a commando then you will be able to do it. Also, say goodbye to pretty much all social media. That means CG, Facebook, Twitter, etc. You have to go 'off the grid'. Be ready for them to tap all your phone calls, no matter who it is. You cant tell your family what you are doing. Most of the times you will be carrying around some money and thats it (for undercover or stealth, mainly in urban environments). You will never have ID on you outside of Australian soil. You will realise that the Commandos all separate themselves from the army, navy and air force. Pretty much when you join, your squad comes first, family second. If you cant take that and move on with normal day to day life, it isnt for you.

wow, thanks heaps man..
really appreciate for all your guys thoughts and knowledge about what I'd be putting myself up for, including you man!
