EXPloSeur LFT

Haven't played too much with him but seems genuine in wanting to improve as a player and be able to play in a team-oriented environment. Possibly a little too toxic sometimes tho. bol

Who am I?
About me/experience: A lot of people probably don't know who I am and that's understandable. My name is Marcus, and I've been playing CS on and off for about 3 years. My team experience is quite questionable, with me being placed in a couple CGa teams that were discontinued pretty quickly and some I left because external pressures such as school and mental health. This activity may have hindered my popularity in the competitive scene and that is fine. To give perspective on who I really am, hopefully some people who do know me can vouch for me to help my credibility. If it helps, last year this time I was rated mid-a by people who have met me in ESEA (apparently people don't play ESEA anymore??),scrims and whatnot. My point is, that my return to CS after this time period may mean that those people in pubs and all that may not remember me or my mechanical skill or game-sense.

What I'm looking for: I'm in my final year of school and I'm aiming for an ATAR of 96.50. This means that CS will not be the only factor consuming my free time. This is why I'm looking for a team similar to my age that is fine with chilling because of similar commitments. I want to be in a friendly team that is dedicated to improvement and doesn't use bullshit excuses to why they haven't. I'm not very similar to a lot of people so if I don't establish a friendship with anyone that's OK, but as long as nobody is yelling at each-other mid-game I don't mind. I am open to all offers.

Alias: micc
Role: I think I'm in my strongest position when I'm supporting or lurking.

Why should I be picked up?
Strengths:
  • Even though I was playing CS on and off, I can tell you one thing with certainty - I have a strong passion towards video games and I am naturally inclined to understand and learn mechanics/concepts faster than the average person.
  • I'm told I have good movement by a lot of players.
  • I am very self-critical of how I play (NOT a weakness): this is what helps me understand what I'm doing wrong and correcting these mistakes is what makes me improve faster.
  • I can control how I communicate. I can talk as much as you want me to on demand.
  • Often find myself outsmarting players, which can prove as a strong asset in potential 1vX scenarios. I guess this could be pertinent to a strong game-sense.
  • Extremely competitive-honestly this is so extreme it could be considered a weakness. However it still means I want to be better than everyone I find though.
  • Can understand opponent's game-behaviour mid-game and capitalise from it.
Weaknesses:
  • Sometimes I panic under pressure.
  • Small availability, but dynamic - my school gives me about 2-4 hours of homework a night some days (I know that isn't a lot, that's not my point). This means that my availability is determined on a day-to-day basis rather than having a clear-cut schedule of when I can play. Sunday to Thursday, I go offline from 10:00PM-10:30PM AEDT. Friday to Saturday I generally am online until 2AM AEDT, sometimes longer.
  • Internet is good, but sometimes they wrongly throttle the internet and results in me being offline for, generally, up to 48 hours.
  • Mood and fatigue may influence performance. I find it very hard to sleep. Social life, school, and fatigue can also influence my mood. I obviously will try to remove external influences on my game play.
  • Sometimes I phase in and out of focus.
  • Mental health. Although, I am making improvements on this.

Aim for season: I have full intention to commit this season but I also want to use this season as an opportunity to just practice/learn so when I have finished school in the following year I am ready to give it all my time, rather than a fraction and hopefully see some improvement.

I haven't played competitively for a while so that may hurt my credibility but hopefully me coming on to the forums just for this post means something.
This man is incredibly dedicated to improving and it's been an honour to be a part of his growth as a person and as a player. Even though I have not seen him play that much recently, I can guarantee that what he's saying about his current strengths is completely honest. His commitment to the game is unquestionable and of extreme rarity in the scene. Best of luck, although I put you at such a high value for a team - despite your current skill level - that I doubt you'll need it as, in my opinion, teams aiming for finals should be jumping at the opportunity to pick you up. Additionally, if it means anything, his maturity does not represent his age. I'm certain he is more mature than a lot of older players in this scene too.
