If your looking for a storage drive for the long term, look at NAS drives like the WD red's.

Warranty is not worth the trouble as the drive's are worth like $120.

If your internet was affected while transferring at a LAN, you were likely connected to a shit switch at 100mbs and not gigabit.

Either way, get what ever you can off the drive, its not going to be easy. Then throw it in the river.
