Yeah i've chosen the Gigabyte H270M-D3H and it has PCI-e. Just wanted to make sure. Also didn't necessarily want something cheap like tp-link as there is a significant difference in better quality products as i've had a TP-Link router and Nighthawk. PCI-e would be good to free up the additional USB slot.

That's cheap enough, budget was $150. Do you know much about CPU/Mobo chipsets? I'm just trying to make sure i'm choosing the best CPU and matching it with the right Mobo.

That mobo uses the 1151 socket. i recommend the 8700k: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/intel-core-i7-8700k-hex-core-lga-11512-370-ghz-unlocked-cpu-processor-ac08625 as it is a new chip, and overclockable. The chip will also last a lifetime, and is perfect for productivity and just as good for gaming.

Working on a budget and limited the build to an i5, couldn't decide between the i5-7600 or the i5-8600.

turns out that mobo cant be overclocked anyways, 8600 is probs better as its a newer series and will probs last longer. just depends on what your willing to spend I guess...

The i5-8600 is same price as i5-7600 but the 7600 has a better base clock speed where the 8600 has a better max speed as well as the additional cores and larger cache. The i5-7600 I have paired with a Gigabyte H270M-D3H but I don't know what board to use with the 8600.
